In Norman, you typically don’t need to obtain a permit for a roll off dumpster container when it is placed on your private property. This applies to all residential and commercial dumpster uses. If you have already pulled a permit for any work on your home or building, you can leave your dumpster in place for the duration of your project.
If you do not have a separate building permit, a roll off container may not be placed on your property for more than 14 days for residential uses or 30 days for commercial use unless prior authorization has been given. In residential areas, the dumpster must be placed on the driveway of the home and may not extend into a public right-of-way such as a sidewalk. If driveway placement is not possible, then you will need written approval by the Director of Planning for the City of Norman.
An application for a rental dumpster delivery should be submitted to the City of Norman before your scheduled delivery date. There is no fee associated with this application, so you won’t incur any additional costs to have a dumpster at your home or job site.
